Melodie per tre punti cardinali

Hypermaremma x Baccano Melodie per tre punti cardinali

For the second year in a row, Hypermaremma closes its seventh edition with an extraordinary sound experience: a special event dedicated to experimental music, deep listening, and the vibrations of the landscape.

In collaboration with Baccano, the music label by LUISS University Press, we invite you to a full day of sound, exploration, and nature in two extraordinary locations across the Maremma:

Spacco della Regina – Ansedonia

A natural cavity steeped in legend and mystery, where sound resonates with enchantment.

Prospettiva Cielo by Mauro Staccioli – Località Giardino

A landmark where art and landscape merge, guiding the gaze toward the infinite.

An invitation to celebrate the balance between light and darkness, earth and sky, sound and silence. An immersive experience to bid farewell to summer and welcome autumn in the heart of the Maremma.

Baccano is the new record label of LUISS University Press, created by Daniele Rosa with artistic direction by Toni Cutrone. It is a project that brings together musicians from different generations and backgrounds, supporting sound research and experimentation. The first series of releases will arrive on April 11, 2025: three albums inspired by the sounds and imagery of Sicily, available on vinyl and digital platforms. The name recalls the ritual noise of festivals in honor of Bacchus – euphoria, sacredness, revelation. Baccano weaves together tradition and the avant-garde, creating a living archive of sounds that bridges Italian roots with radical experimentation.

VERTICALE is a site-specific sound intervention conceived by Filippo Brancadoro and Filippo Scorcucchi for the natural cavity that runs through the depths of the Ansedonia promontory: Lo Spacco della Regina. In this space that opens upwards, the performance unfolds in quadraphony, tracing not a horizontal trajectory but a vertical sonic axis: from the underground to the vault, from darkness to light, from telluric silence to the cosmic breath of the sky. The composition evokes deep time: not linear, not narrative, but stratified, archaeological, like the walls of the gorge that preserve centuries of echoes and memories.

Mai Mai Mai is an audio-video project by Toni Cutrone, a key figure of the avant-garde/drone scene, weaving sounds and images of a dark journey through the traditions and folklore of Southern Italy and the Mediterranean. It delves into the interaction between pagan rituals and Catholicism, between nature and magic in rural life, between musical tradition and its contemporary developments, drawing on archival sounds and field recordings. It represents a sort of “Mediterranean Hauntology” which, far from being merely nostalgic, noisily awakens the very specters it recounts and summons them to accompany us in our daily lives.
